benchmark. celebrates cornerstone ceremony of the Kühnehöfe in Hamburg-Altona

Duisburg / Hamburg, 04.10.2019. benchmark. REAL Estate GmbH (benchmark.) has laid the cornerstone for a double-brand hotel of the brands Moxy-Hotel and Residence-Inn-by Marriott in Kühnehöfen 10 in Hamburg's Altona district. On a floor space of over 10,000 sqm around 220 MOXY hotel rooms and 44 Residence-Inn-Boardinghaus apartments as well as a singlestorey underground car park with up to 79 car parking spaces and sufficient bicycle parking spaces will be built. The investment volume for the project is well into the tens of millions. The opening is planned for the first quarter of 2021.

Moxy is the "experience brand" of Marriott International and a so-called lifestyle economy hotel. Through a combination of stylish design, technical features and a vibrant lobby area, the boutique brand aims to meet Millennium's target group. The Moxy hotel rooms are around 17 sqm in size. Residence Inn is a longstay concept specially designed for travellers who spend several days in one place. Accordingly, the rooms, at almost 28 sqm, are considerably larger and are equipped with a wardrobe and a compact kitchenette.

benchmark. has signed a 25-year lease contract for the hotel with the Odyssey Hotel Group. In addition to its international commercial buildings, the hotel operating company already manages more than 1,100 hotel rooms throughout Germany and has more than 2,400 hotel rooms in its pipeline in addition to the hotel development in Hamburg Altona.

"With Kühnehöfe, we are bundling two strong Marriott brand names – Moxy and ResidenceInn – in one hotel that meet the requirements of a modern and innovative hotel product.
Together with our tenant, the planning team and the general contractor, AUG.PRIEN Bauunternehmung from Hamburg, we are looking forward to the successful implementation of this project," says Kay Strehle, authorized signatory and branch manager Rhein-Ruhr of benchmark.

"Due to its attractiveness, Hamburg has been able to increase its number of overnight stays and guests for years. With our new hotel in the Lifestyle Economy segment and the ResidenceInn with its longstay concept, we are picking up on current travel trends. We are confident that both products will successfully complement the range in Hamburg," explains Martin Hantel, managing partner of benchmark.

The building complex, which is being developed under the name Kühnehöfe, is part of the inner-city development area on the former headquarters of Kühne KG. The new buildings will be noise-protected parallel to Stresemannstraße, one of the most important entry and exit roads in western Hamburg. From here there is a good connection to the A7 motorway. The Ottensen S-Bahn station is about 300 metres away, and the Altona regional station is about one kilometre away
