benchmark. submits building application for mixed-use property in Saarbrücken, Germany

Frankfurt am Main / Saarbrücken, 06.12.2021. The property developer benchmark. REAL Estate has submitted the building application for a mixed-use property in Saarbrücken, capital of the federal state of Saarland. The Frankfurt-based company is planning to build 208 student apartments and a full-range grocery store in the district of Dudweiler.

Alexander Kilian, Project Manager at benchmark, says: “The mixed-use approach that includes a grocer and student apartments is a perfect fit for the district and is going to improve the overall urban quality.” Götz U. We have been working in close concert with the municipality to realize this project.”

The development comprises a gross floor area of around 10,700 sqm on a 6,400 sqm plot. It is located in Sulzbachtalstrasse next to the town hall and within walking distance of the pedestrian zone of the Dudweiler district. Construction works should be completed before the winter semester of 2023. The building application provides for a ground floor with approximately 2,100 sqm for a full-range grocery store. The student apartments will offer around 6,700 sqm of living space. The project also includes 52 underground parking spaces and above-ground parking for shoppers. The building is set to maximise energy efficiency in accordance with standards set by business development bank KFW (KFW- Effizienzhausstandard).
